budget, the largest one year reduction in the system's history.
The state's budget is set for every two years, so Jordan said it doesn't appear any more cuts will be necessary during that time.
In total, the college made $489,000 worth of staff cuts, Jordan said. The college had a $1.3 million deficit heading into the next school year.
Among the full time positions laid off were in the area of workforce development, a computer engineering professor and the telephone operator. President Lucille Jordan said callers will now be directed to an automated service.
"It was nice to have a voice answering the phones, but the nice to haves you have to let go," Jordan said.

That is an increase of 7.7 percent over the 2010 11 school year rate of $195 per credit. For students taking a full 15 credit course load, this means an increase of $225 per semester next year. Full time attendance will cost $6,300 for the year.
Jordan said the goal was to make the reductions without impacting the quality of the college's academic program, which Jordan said was accomplished
