The district has come a long way since it hired Julia Earl as superintendent in 2005, when little information was released to the public.
Public interviews were held in 2009 when Superintendent Mark Conrad was hired and last year when Jennifer Seusing was named an assistant superintendent.
Other school districts have done similar things for major positions. Last year in Hudson, public interviews were conducted for the superintendent position.
Each candidate received 45 minutes in public session with the Board of Education, to answer questions and ask any he or she had.
Many school systems conduct interviews in private and announce a finalist's identity only when they are being recommended to the board for the position.
The Nashua Board of Education vetted three candidates Wednesday night for the assistant superintendent position that will be vacated by Dr. Althea Sheaff this summer.
The interviews also were shown on Nashua's ETV public access channel, and they are available as an audio recording on the district website.

But in many other districts, and even for positions like principals in Nashua, the hiring process is not always so transparent.
But Conrad said last Monday that he believes having a transparent process is important for such a high profile position.
During last year's hiring process, however, the candidates for the position were not named until the interviews began. This year, the identity of the finalists were made public days before.
And while the process is not new for the school system, it is somewhat unique in the region. And this process is even more transparent than a nearly identical one last year, when the board was looking for a replacement for former assistant superintendent Brian Cochrane, who know heads Litchfield schools.
